SINGAPORE, 29 APRIL 2026 – As part of the National Blood Programme’s 80th anniversary celebration, the Singapore Red Cross (SRC) is launching the RedRad Challenge — a first-of-its-kind fitness challenge celebrating the blood donor community. Blood donation is not just an act of generosity, but also a reflection of health, strength and readiness to save lives.

Singapore relies on regular blood donations to meet daily transfusion needs and maintain a sustainable blood supply. Every donation can save up to three lives. Through the RedRad Challenge, SRC aims to reach those who are passionate about fitness and, in doing so, shift the perception of blood donation — from an occasional act of goodwill to an integral part of a purposeful, healthy lifestyle. The goal is to inspire more Singaporeans to take ownership of their health, so they can keep donating blood, keep saving lives, and strengthen Singapore’s blood supply.

Donors who have successfully donated between 2 January to 10 May 2026 will be invited to take part in the RedRad Challenge as part of their commitment to staying “lifesaving ready”. There will be three different categories: regular, advanced and fun doubles. Blood donors may sign up individually or as a pair with a fellow blood donor. The RedRad challenge will feature an 8-station functional fitness course that tests endurance, strength, and resilience, reflecting qualities that mirror the discipline and consistency of regular blood donors.

All registered participants will receive a goodie bag on the event day, which includes limited edition RedRad and SRC merchandise, participant tee, and fitness ready items such as protein doughnuts, knee sleeve, isotonic water and more. The first 80 registrants will also receive a commemorative towel celebrating the National Blood Programme’s 80th anniversary and its theme, “80 Years of Gifting Blood.” Upon completion of the 8-station course, participants will earn a medallion and end the event with a lucky draw.

About Singapore Red Cross

Singapore Red Cross is a homegrown humanitarian organisation, dedicated to relieving human suffering, protecting lives and dignity, and responding to emergencies since 1949. We serve the vulnerable through our blood donor programme, home and day activity centre for the disabled, senior services, community outreach for family, children & migrants, and civil response. We build capacity and resilience in the community through our training academy, volunteer and youth development.

Beyond our shores, we mobilise and translate contributions from the donor community to relief and recovery, rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts, with the aim of helping communities affected by disasters. For more information, please see redcross.sg.
