About The Singapore Red Cross
The Singapore Red Cross is a homegrown humanitarian organisation, dedicated to relieving human suffering, protecting lives and dignity and responding to emergencies since 1949. We serve the vulnerable through our Blood Donor Recruitment Programme, Red Cross Home for the Disabled and Day Activity Centre, ElderAid, TransportAid, Family Crisis Aid, Community Health on Wheels, Community First Aid, and more.
We build capacity and resilience through our training academy, and volunteer and youth development. Beyond our shores, we mobilise and translate contributions from the donor community to aid relief and recovery, rehabilitation, and reconstruction efforts, with the aim of helping communities affected by disasters.

In all activities, our volunteers, members and staff are guided by the Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross and Red Crescent movement.
Our Emblem
The Red Cross emblem is a symbol of protection that international law gives to the wounded and sick, and those caring for them, in armed conflict. They are a symbol of protection and a sign that help is at hand. They are also a sign of hope, and must be respected.
The Red Cross is a protected emblem and hence cannot be used for other purposes except those stipulated by International and Singapore Law. The Red Cross emblem is crucial to the work of the Red Cross Movement as it informs all parties in areas where we are operating that we are a completely neutral entity whose sole purpose in that location is to render humanitarian aid to the vulnerable, regardless of their affiliations. Hence, it is important that there be no unauthorised use of the Red Cross emblem as this can result in the integrity of the emblem being compromised.
The Red Cross emblem is recognised under the Geneva Convention Act of 1864 which states that the emblem can only be used by the medical services of the armed forces and the component bodies of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. The Singapore Red Cross takes a serious stand in monitoring that our emblem is not used for purposes not stipulated in the Geneva Conventions Act.
