ESG Commitments
Singapore Red Cross integrates environmental, social and governance principles to strengthen its operations, support its people and deliver humanitarian services responsibly.
Environmental Stewardship
Singapore Red Cross is committed to reducing its environmental impact by integrating sustainable practices into its operations and facilities. The refurbishment of Red Cross House was guided by four principles: efficiency, sustainability, accessibility and heritage conservation.
Upgrades included energy-efficient lighting, solar panels, rainwater harvesting systems and flexible spaces designed to optimise resource use and support collaboration.
In 2025, an electric vehicle (EV) charging station was introduced to encourage cleaner transportation and reduce carbon emissions. The organisation also promotes sustainable workplace practices through digitalisation, hybrid work arrangements, reduced paper use, furniture upcycling and the 3R approach of reducing, reusing and recycling.
Social
People are at the heart of Singapore Red Cross. The organisation is committed to fostering an inclusive, people-centred workplace where employees are supported to grow, contribute and thrive. Through flexible work arrangements, employee wellness initiatives, mental health support and staff-led programmes, Singapore Red Cross promotes wellbeing, collaboration and work-life harmony.
It also invests in learning and development through training, leadership development and career progression opportunities, equipping employees with the skills needed to support its humanitarian mission. These efforts help build a resilient, engaged and future-ready workforce dedicated to serving communities with care and professionalism.
Governance
Strong governance underpins the work of Singapore Red Cross and supports the responsible delivery of humanitarian services. Guided by its Act of Parliament and Constitution, the organisation is overseen by a 19-member Council, supported by specialised committees that provide expertise in areas such as finance, governance, audit, risk and humanitarian assistance.
The Secretariat implements the Council’s policies and works closely with employees and volunteers to deliver programmes and services. Singapore Red Cross is committed to accountability and transparency, reflected in its Charity Governance Award (2013) and Charity Transparency Awards (2016, 2017, 2023 and 2024), recognising its high standards of governance and public accountability.
