Governing with Integrity

The Singapore Red Cross (SRC) began as a branch of the British Red Cross in 1949 and was incorporated by an Act of Parliament in 1973 as Singapore’s National Red Cross Society. The organisation is governed by a 19-member Council, chaired by an appointee of the President of the Republic of Singapore, with oversight committees providing expertise in areas including governance, finance, audit, risk management, fundraising and humanitarian assistance.

Day-to-day operations are led by the Secretary General and CEO through the Secretariat, supported by employees and volunteers who work together to deliver humanitarian programmes and services across Singapore and beyond.

Compilation of the Charity Transparency Awards that the Singapore Red Cross has won

In 2013, SRC was awarded the Charity Governance Award which honours charities that have adopted the highest standards of governance and implemented the best practices to ensure sustained effectiveness.

Consecutively in 2016 and 2017, as well as in 2023 and 2024, we received the Charity Transparency Award for being one of the nation’s best governed charities. These awards attest to SRC’s commitment in upholding the highest standards in transparency — a key pillar in governance.
