Over 380 Humanitarians And Partners Recognised At Singapore Red Cross Awards

SINGAPORE, 22 SEPTEMBER 2026 – More than 380 individuals and organisations were honoured at the annual Singapore Red Cross Awards for their dedication and contributions towards advancing the humanitarian mission of SRC and uplifting vulnerable communities in Singapore (See Annex A for the full list of award recipients.)

President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Patron of Singapore Red Cross, graced the occasion as Guest-of-Honour and presented the Awards to the recipients, comprising volunteers, donors, partners and supporters who have contributed their time, expertise and resources to further SRC’s humanitarian work.

President Tharman said, “The strength of our society lies in how we care for one another, especially the vulnerable. The individuals and organisations recognised today exemplify the values, effort and sense of responsibility that bring hope and lift spirits.”

Strengthening Community Resilience Through Partnership

At the ceremony, the SRC and PA signed a new three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for 2026 to 2029, extending their collaboration to further strengthen emergency preparedness, community resilience and humanitarian participation.

Under this new MOU, SRC and PA will deepen their collaboration across four areas: crisis management, heatwave resilience, psychosocial support and community blood donation. SRC will provide PA Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) volunteers with opportunities to learn from regional crisis management and disaster recovery practices through overseas experiential programmes to strengthen emergency preparedness and crisis recovery capabilities. SRC and PA will also co-develop Heatwave Resilience and Psychosocial Support programmes, while promoting greater community and youth participation in blood donation efforts. Together, these initiatives aim to strengthen community resilience and preparedness.

Mr Tan Kai Hoe, Chairman of the Singapore Red Cross, said: “Humanitarian action is the most critical in the current uncertain, volatile environment. Our volunteers, donors and partners bring different knowledge, skills and expertise, but we share a common purpose. This shared purpose allow us to multiply our reach, respond with flexibility and unity to evolving needs and build stronger, more resilient communities. The awards today celebrates not just individual achievements, but also our collective impact when we work together.”

 From the Youngest Humanitarian to the Communities we Serve

President Tharman was welcomed by a performance by 40 Red Cross Juniors – preschoolers representing the next generation of young humanitarians. He also met with service users and beneficiaries featured in the SRC’s new impact video, who shared how SRC’s support has made a meaningful difference in their lives. Among them are seniors who found companionship and renewed purpose through the ElderAid programme, residents of our disability home who receive round-the-clock care, and a leukaemia survivor and a thalassemia patient whose recoveries are supported by blood transfusions rallied by SRC.

The interactions connect the volunteers, donors and partners with the individuals and communities whose lives their contributions help to strengthen.

New Children’s Book – The Story of Living with Thalassaemia

President Tharman also met Hidayah Amin & Lee Seow Ser, the authors behind “My Name is Dan. I have Thalassaemia”, a children’s book inspired by a child living with thalassaemia – a genetic blood disorder, developed through a collaboration between Singapore Red Cross and Helang Books.

This collaboration is part of SRC’s broader efforts to cultivate interest in blood donation from a young age, encouraging children to understand the life-saving impact of blood donation and inspiring conversations about giving and helping others
