Overseas Disaster Deployment Training (ODDT)
The Overseas Disaster Deployment Training (ODDT) is a 6-day programme that prepares participants for potential humanitarian deployments. It provides essential knowledge, skills and competencies to operate effectively in disaster-affected areas while supporting the Singapore Red Cross. The training includes classroom learning and simulation exercises for practical application in realistic deployment scenarios.

Course Highlights
- Demonstrate responsible, ethical and professional conduct in line with humanitarian principles
- Apply deployment readiness practices, including safety, security and self-care
- Conduct basic humanitarian field activities, including needs assessment and documentation
- Apply effective communication, coordination and humanitarian diplomacy
- Integrate humanitarian knowledge and operational skills in a realistic disaster deployment simulation
Prerequisite Requirements
- Be at least 16 years of age.
- Complete required IFRC Learning Platform modules before Day 1 (WORC, Stay Safe Level 1 & 2, RCRC Induction Course).
- Recommended: basic familiarity with volunteering, humanitarian work or community engagement. (optional)
- Willing to participate in practical, outdoor and field-based simulation activities.
- Physically fit to take part in moderate outdoor activities during the field simulation.
- Able to work collaboratively in teams and adapt to dynamic learning environments.

Module 1 - Humanitarian Foundations & Conduct
Global humanitarian landscape, humanitarian ethics and principles, impact of humanitarian crises, communicating in disasters, deployment protocols and SOPs.
Module 2 - Deployment Readiness & Humanitarian Action
Module 3 - Communication, Operations & Reporting
Module 4 - Health, WASH, MHPSS & Inclusion
Module 5 & 6 - Integrated Capstone Simulation (Day 5–6)
Two-day field simulation covering mission briefing, navigation, radio comms, needs assessment, relief/logistics tasking and after-action review.
