Leadership and Governance
The Singapore Red Cross is governed by a Council comprising experienced leaders from diverse professional backgrounds who provide strategic direction and oversight for the organisation.
Led by the Chairman and supported by specialised committees, the Council is responsible for carrying out the objectives of the Singapore Red Cross as set out in the Singapore Red Cross Society Act and Constitution.
Working closely with the Secretary General, Management and volunteers, the Council helps ensure the organisation operates with integrity, accountability and transparency while advancing its humanitarian mission in Singapore and beyond.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a time commitment to volunteer?
Time commitment depends on your availability. Regular volunteering roles with no time commitment and ad-hoc volunteering roles are available. However, certain SRC Programmes and volunteer roles, especially those beneficiary-facing (i.e. Befriender, Tutor/Mentor, etc), will require more regular commitment as it entails forming and maintaining relationships with beneficiaries.
Further information will be given during the Volunteer Induction Sessions (VIS) by the Programme Managers and/or Volunteer Leaders.
How can I be notified of volunteering opportunities?
There are two channels to find out about available opportunities
- SRC Volunteer Portal When you log in to the Volunteer Portal (vp.redcross.sg), you will be able to view and register for upcoming volunteering opportunities. Please ensure your profile details are updated (including licences and certifications), and that you have selected the roles you are interested in volunteering as. This will provide you access to view and register for upcoming events / opportunities tailored to your volunteering interests
- Email listing Once your registration is complete, you will automatically be added into our mailing list and receive email updates on the latest happenings and upcoming training and volunteering opportunities.
To avoid missing out on any email correspondence from Singapore Red Cross, you may want to whitelist [email protected].
What are the available group/corporate volunteering opportunities?

Must I be a certified First Aider in order to volunteer?
To volunteer in SRC’s first aid-related programmes (e.g. First Aider On Wheels, Community First Aid, deployment for overseas missions), volunteers must be First Aid certified.For other programmes, it is not mandatory to be First Aid certified. However, all members are encouraged to sign up for the Standard First Aid + AED Provider course which is conducted by the Singapore Red Cross Academy (SRCA).
Is there any available training for volunteers?
Depending your area of involvement, you may receive:
- Programme Orientation & Training
An in-depth orientation and/or programme-specific training to help you carry out your role effectively. Some programmes may require your commitment before training is offered. - Volunteer Skills Training (VST)
An upskill initiative for our general pool of volunteers with transferable skills for future volunteering, with the aim of building a stronger skilled volunteer pool. - Volunteer Leadership Programme (VLP)
A specialised programme to empower committed volunteers to take on leadership roles. Selection is based on passion, leadership potential, communication skills, and a 2-year commitment. Benefits include training sponsorship, an exclusive vest, opportunities to represent SRC at key events, and official appointment letters.
How do I register for the Volunteer Induction Session (VIS)?
Volunteer Induction Session is the mandatory orientation for all newly signed-up volunteers. It is conducted at least once a month, and prepares you with information you need to start your volunteering journey with us.
To register for VIS, log in to the Volunteer Portal and you will see the banner on Volunteer Induction session (VIS) slots. Click ‘Go’ and you will be directed to the list of upcoming VIS sessions for you to register.
