The Singapore Red Cross works to enhance community preparedness and strengthen resilience, helping to reduce vulnerability and enable communities to respond effectively during emergencies. In peacetime, we support civil and blood emergency exercises, working closely with government agencies and partners to strengthen emergency readiness and coordination.

During emergencies, we serve as an auxiliary to the Singapore government, supporting national disaster response efforts through humanitarian assistance. We mobilise trained first aiders and blood donors to reinforce healthcare services while coordinating volunteers and resources to assist affected communities.

Civil Emergency Response Team

Volunteers must:

Be 18 years old and above.
Have a valid SFA certification or an equivalent qualification recognised by SRC.
Be physically and medically fit to carry out first aid duties.
Be able to communicate effectively and work well in a team.

Volunteers interested in Civil Emergency Response are required to first gain sufficient operational experience through FAOW and Events Coverage before being considered for CE deployments.

This helps ensure they are adequately prepared for emergency response operations.

Be part of the Community First Aiders

Volunteers are encouraged to begin their journey with the Community First Aid programme to strengthen their skills and competency and gain experience before joining the Civil Emergency Response team.

Community First Aid

Through the Community First Aid programme, we mobilise First Aid volunteer teams for national and community events.

Our First Aider on Wheels patrols the national parks on the weekends, attending to anybody who may require First Aid attention.
