Blood donors play a pivotal role in saving lives and supporting the National Blood Programme. In return, we recognise their efforts at the World Blood Donor Day ceremony.
Haze Advisory to all blood donors, with effect from 22 October 2026: The same donor groups (those above 60, first-time donors, and people with respiratory or heart conditions) are advised not to donate when the 1-hour PM2.5 reading for the region reaches Band 3 (High) or higher.
Eligible donors not in these groups and who feel well are encouraged to donate.

A Champion Hero
Blood donors hail from all walks of life and are on different paths of the same journey. Some have only just started donating blood, while others have done it on hundreds of occasions. Each and every one of them, however, is motivated by a keen desire to save lives.
Every year, we appreciate and celebrate their meaningful contributions at World Blood Donor Day. Champion donors who have achieved the following donation milestones and a specially engraved medal will be presented at our Champion Blood Donor Recognition Ceremony.

If you have
- Donated on your birthday or birth month
- Donated at least 3 times in a year
- Donated your 1st, 5th or 10th packet of blood
You qualify for our Birthday Programme or HOPE (Helping Other People livE) Programme, and we’d love to thank you with a token of appreciation. If this is your 1st, 5th or 10th donation, you can collect a commemorative enamel pin at the blood bank too. Please approach any of our friendly nurses or Red Cross volunteers for assistance!

How do I know if I will be receiving an award this year?
All champion donors will receive a collection letter who are achieving the above donation milestones.
Is there any specific bloodbank I have to go to collect my 1st, 5th, 10th enamel pins?
Your fifth or tenth medallion will be available at all bloodbanks. Please approach any nurses or volunteers for assistance.
What happens if I’m not able to attend World Blood Donor Day to receive my award?
Donors will receive a call from our Blood Donor Programme to confirm a collection date and location.
