This classroom-based training course will equip Trainee-Instructors with the competencies to teach the Approved Training Syllabus of the OFAC based on the MOM Technical Notes Course Reference Matrix. Upon completion, Trainee-Instructors will be able to instruct competently as a First Aid Instructor, in compliance with industry standards, focusing on subject matter topics shared by the Instructor Trainers.

Course Highlights
Equip Facilitators and Assessors to deliver and assess the Occupational First Aid Course (OFAC) per MOM WSHC Technical Notes, covering assessment conduct, bandaging skills, learning outcomes and topic presentation.
Prerequisite Requirements
- Category I: Red Cross Instructor / St John Lecturer Cert + CPR+AED Instructor Cert + ACTA/ACLP + Code of Ethics.
- Category II: Practising Nurse (valid SNB Cert) + BCLS+AED Instructor Cert + ACTA/ACLP + Code of Ethics.
- Category III: Paramedic + BCLS+AED Instructor Cert + ACTA/ACLP + Code of Ethics. (optional)
- Minimum Secondary Two education or ESS Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (WPLN) Level 5.

- Individuals invited by SRCA FA & Life Support Consultants
- Learners who are physically and medically fit to instruct First Aid training

Curriculum & Modules
Module 1 - Course Overview
Introduction, world leaders in First Aid education, psychological First Aid, 60 MCQ pre-test. (2 hours)
Module 2 - Qualified First Aid Instructor
Instructor pathway, quality and standards, 4 stages of competence, roles & responsibilities, constructive feedback. (2 hours)
Module 3 - Delivery of Learning Services
Adult learners, core competencies, lesson plan and Technical Notes specifics. (1 hour)
Module 4 - Conducting FA Assessment
Assessment plan, assessor’s code of conduct, conflict resolution, written/practical/oral questioning, assessment recording. (3 hours)
Module 5 - Key Learning Points (Micro)
Learners present Key Learning Points and demonstrations across all OFAC topics with peer feedback, over Days 2-4. (22 hours)
Module 6 - Course Evaluation & Completion
Course evaluation conduct, completion criteria, post-course requirements for Provider and Instructor Course. (2 hours)
Assessment & Certificate
Certificate Type
A4 Statement of Attainment (OFA Instructor Train-The-Trainer & Methods of Instruction), non-expiry, accredited by MOM WSHC OFAC Technical Notes.
- Recognised by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) as termed Qualified First Aid Instructor under MOM WSHC OFAC TECHNICAL NOTES.
- An A4 certificate stating Statement of Attainment in the Occupational First Aid Instructor Course (Train-The-Trainer and Methods of Instruction) with non-expiry validity will be issued upon successful completion by attaining Competent. Red Cross will publish periodically and update the list of Qualified First Aid Instructors who completed the Instructor Course at the Red Cross.
- The Instructor Appointment is renewable at an approved LSP once the Instructor has assumed the role as an Occupational First Aid Facilitator/Assessor role at least twice per year in any approved LSP, accredited by the Singapore Accreditation Council (SAC) approved Certification Bodies (CBs).
- Please note that by taking this Instructor Course does not automatically make you a Qualified Instructor of the Singapore Red Cross. Entry is via invitation by SRCA First Aid & Life Support Consultants and/or recommendation by 6 Instructor Trainers.
- This OFA Instructor Certificate cannot be used to conduct SRFAC Standard First Aid Course from 1st August 2021. Please register for the SRFAC Standard First Aid Instructor Course if you are interested.
Assessment
Written:
Pre-course 60 MCQ (Day 1) and OFATTT 20 MCQ (Day 4), both 80% to pass, up to 3 attempts.
75% course attendance required for assessment eligibility.
Practical:
Small group demonstration of up to 2 OFA modules (Days 2–4) with feedback, plus post-course Practicum: T1/T2/E1/E2 attachments within 6 months (min. FAIR then GOOD).
