Occupational First Aid Course

This is a mandatory training course for Occupational First Aiders. The aim of the course is to train individuals to render first aid treatment to the casualty during an emergency or accident at the workplace. Workplace Safety and Health (First Aid) Regulations stipulates that “every person appointed as a first-aider shall (a) have successfully completed a training course acceptable to the Commissioner; and (b) undergo such subsequent re-training in first-aid treatment as the Commissioner may require”
For companies required to meet WSH Act standards and individuals seeking first aid certification compliant with Ministry of Manpower (MOM) regulations.

Course Highlights
By the end of the course, learners will be able to:
- Explain the duties and responsibilities of a First Aider.
- List the legal requirements under Workplace Safety and Health (First
- Aid) Regulations.
- Check and pack contents of First Aid Box.
- Apply first aid to accident victims in the workplace.
- Manage a medical emergency at the workplace.
- Manage victims of hazardous chemicals exposure.
- Identify common workplace accidents requiring first aid treatment.
Prerequisite Requirements
- Submit a passport-sized photo (.jpeg) in digital format upon confirmation e-mail.
- Companies enrolling employees must ensure at least Secondary Two education or ESS Workplace Literacy and Numeracy Level 5.
- Must be physically fit and able to render help to another individual during an emergency. (optional)
- Medically fit with no pre-existing conditions (e.g. knee, spinal or joint injuries); consult a doctor if unsure.
- Pregnant learners are discouraged from CPR practice; consult a doctor and provide a memo if unsure.

Primary and secondary survey; emergency action plan; communication, evacuation and transport plan; records and reporting; case scenarios.
Module 3 - Wounds, Bleeding & Shock
Module 4 - Fractures and Soft Tissue Injuries
Module 5 - Handling and Transportation of the Injured
1-man and 2-man transport techniques; practical on 1-man transport.
Module 6 - Occupational Eye Injuries
Module 7 - Burn Injuries
Module 8 - Breathing Difficulties
Module 9 - The Unconscious Patient
Module 10 - First Aid Requirements in Factories & Workplaces
Module 11 - Industrial Toxicology
Module 12 - Safety & Accident Prevention
Module 13 - Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) & Use of AED
Assessment & Certificate
Certificate Type
Occupational First Aider (OFAC) certification, credit card-sized, valid for 2 years.
Awarded ISO 29993:2017 by SOCOTEC Certification Singapore (SCS). Accredited by the Singapore Accreditation Council (SAC). Approved by MOM 10 FSM Points awarded to FSM Officers.
Assessment
Written:
40 MCQs across 2 papers. Paper 1: 70% to pass (14/20). Paper 2: 80% to pass (16/20).
Up to 3 attempts to pass.
100% attendance required.
Practical:
CPR (Hands-Only) + AED with Continuous Compressions (QCPR), and bandaging (head, trunk and limbs), plus oral questioning.
Up to 3 attempts to pass.
