Using the Service
1) What does a medical chaperone do?
Medical chaperones accompany clients throughout their medical journey by:
- Assisting clients between their home and medical appointments
- Supporting wheelchair transfers and mobility where appropriate
- Assisting with registration and navigation within healthcare facilities
- Providing companionship and ensuring clients return home safely
- Medical chaperones do not provide nursing care, administer medication or perform medical procedures.
2) Can I book transport without a medical chaperone?
Depending on your needs, transport only services may be available. Our team will assess your requirements and recommend the most suitable service.
3) Do you provide ambulance services?
No. MCT is a scheduled, non-emergency wheelchair transport service.
For individuals with severe medical conditions or mobility needs that require stretcher transport or medical monitoring during the journey, please engage a private ambulance service that is equipped to provide the appropriate level of care.
4) How early should I make a booking?
To help us better accommodate your preferred appointment date and time, we recommend submitting your booking at least 2 weeks in advance.
5) Can a family member travel together with the client?
This depends on vehicle capacity and operational requirements. Please let us know when making your booking.
Becoming a Medical Chaperone
1) What are the requirements to become a Medical Chaperone?
Successful applicants should generally:
- Have a caring and service-oriented attitude
- Be physically able to assist wheelchair users safely
- Possess good communication and interpersonal skills
- Be able to commit to assignments on a freelance basis
Relevant caregiving, healthcare or community service experience is advantageous but not always required.
2) Will training be provided?
Yes. Successful applicants will undergo an onboarding programme and on-the-job training before they are deployed.
3) Is this a volunteer role?
No. Medical Chaperones are engaged on a paid freelance basis and receive remuneration based on completed assignments.
