Concert by Methodist Girls School Raises Funds for the Red Cross Home for the Disabled

Students and teachers of Methodist Girls' School organised 'Concert Ola', as part of its Project Meliorism, which fundraised $2,639.78 for the Red Cross Home for the Disabled (RCHD). Of this, $993.78 was raised by the sale of the tickets to the concert, while the remaining $1,656 was raised for the concert via the Give.asia platform. Held at Cairnhill Community Club on 26 October 2023, the concert was attended by 100 people.

"I extend my heartfelt appreciation to the organisers and performers for organising this concert to fundraise for the Singapore Red Cross Society’s Red Cross Home for the Disabled (RCHD). I thank all the attendees for your magnanimous support," said Mr Adrian Lim, Director of the Red Cross Home for the Disabled in his speech.

The RCHD is Singapore's only home for the severely disabled. The dedicated team of nursing and healthcare aides, physiotherapists, and occupational and speech therapists engage close to 100 residents in art, music, and gardening activities that enhance their physical, social and emotional well-being.

"Most of the residents are bedridden and require 24/7 devoted care and attention for their daily activities. While some residents have families who visit regularly, others reside at the Red Cross Home for the Disabled without any known family members. We also have some residents who have been residing with us since young and the Red Cross Home for the Disabled has become a haven for these people with disabilities," Mr Lim added.

The Red Cross Home for the Disabled's annual operational expenditure is $4 million.

Besides providing sponsorship to the concert, CFAM Pte Ltd generously contributed $10,000 to the Red Cross Home for the Disabled.

Celebrity Ambassador of the Singapore Red Cross, Ms Eunice Olsen, Ms Abbey Tan, who was also a performer, and Mr Rennie Gomes attended the event and gave invaluable insights and encouragement to the girls.
