The Singapore Red Cross (SRC) and Lao Red Cross (LRC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 13 August 2026, marking a shared commitment to deepen bilateral cooperation across key areas of humanitarian work.
Signed during Humanitarian Week 2026, the MOU provides a broad framework for both National Societies to exchange knowledge, strengthen capabilities and explore future joint initiatives.
Areas of collaboration include community health, disaster preparedness and relief, blood services, youth development and organisational development. The framework also provides both National Societies with the flexibility to respond to evolving humanitarian needs and priorities.
As humanitarian challenges grow increasingly complex and interconnected, cooperation across the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement remains important to strengthening local capacities and supporting communities before, during and after crises.
The partnership reflects the spirit of Humanitarian Week 2026 and its theme, “Humanity Beyond Today”, recognising that a stronger humanitarian future depends on sustained collaboration, shared learning and collective action.
