First Aid and Home Safety

Equip your child with practical First Aid knowledge to stay safe and confident at home. Learn the basics of First Aid through hands on activities that teach your children some of the basic lifesaving skills and first aid techniques that will help them in emergency situations. Learn how to pack a First Aid kit and important phone numbers to dial when there is an emergency. In this interactive workshop, children build confidence to handle common emergencies including burns, falls, choking and nosebleeds, and learn the fundamentals of CPR and AED use.

Outdoor Safety illustration

Outdoor First Aid and Safety

Boost your child’s outdoor confidence with essential first aid skills. This interactive workshop teaches children how to pack a first aid kit, manage heat-related injuries, and respond to common outdoor emergencies such as cuts, bleeding and lightning hazards. Through guided rescue simulations, they’ll practise safe carrying and transport techniques - including the piggy-back, human crutch, cradle carry, hand seats, blanket drag and improvised stretchers.

Water Safety and First Aid for Kids

Give your child the confidence to stay safe around water. They’ll learn how to recognise potential hazards, know when and how to help someone in trouble, and build water awareness through simple rescue techniques. Children will also gain skills in floating, breath control and using Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs) safely.

Frequently Asked Questions About Holiday Programme

There are two courses on the same day, do I need to register for both classes?
There are two daily sessions of the same programme. Participants may select either the morning or the afternoon session.
If I participated in the Junior First Aid Workshop (JFAW) before, should I join the programme again?
If you’ve already attended one of the Junior First Aid Workshops (e.g. Home Safety), you don’t need to retake the same module. However, to earn the Junior First Aid Champion badge, you’ll need to complete all three missions — Home Safety, Outdoor Safety, and Water Safety.
If I participated in the previous holiday programme, should I join the programme again?
The current holiday programme features the same three modules — Home Safety, Outdoor Safety, and Water Safety. If you’ve already completed them previously, there’s no need to retake the same modules. However, you’re welcome to return for a refresher or to experience the updated hands-on activities.
If I previously attended one of the three programmes, should I take all three again to earn the badge?
If you have already completed one of the programmes, there is no need to repeat it. We will record your previous participation and issue the badge once all three programmes have been completed. Kindly notify us so that we can confirm it at academy@redcross.sg
Where can I register for the class?
How long is the programme?
Each course is four hours.
I have a group of kids who would like to attend the programme, can we arrange a session just for them?
For private sessions, the minimum class size is at least 12 pax. You may contact academy@redcross.sg to enquire further.
How much is the programme fee?
Each session is $81.75 inclusive of GST.
What is the minimum age / age limit for this programme?
The recommended age for the programme is 7–12 years old.
Any items or attire the children need to bring?
• Home & Outdoor Safety: bring a water bottle and a pen.
• Water Safety: bring a water bottle, swimming attire, and an extra set of clothes. Bathing facilities are available; however, soap and warm water are not provided.
For the Water Safety programme, if my child does not know how to swim, can they still participate?
Swimming ability is not required. Participants may stay in the shallow end or participate from the poolside.
For the Water Safety programme, would it still be useful for kids who can already swim?
Yes. They’ll learn pool safety protocols, how to recognise when someone needs help, and how to assist safely.
