Being the largest international humanitarian organisation with over 14 million active volunteers, Red Cross fully understands the importance of capacity building.

Since its establishment as a National Society in 1965, the Singapore Red Cross has equipped thousands of staff and volunteers with critical skillsets relating to health, first aid, disaster response, emergency preparedness and more through its humanitarian learning centre, the Singapore Red Cross Academy.

For the last 25 years, the Academy has extended training opportunities to the public in an effort to strengthen the community. Since then, the Academy has multiplied its first aid offerings which now boasts of the nation's first certifiable Citizen First Responder Training Programme, Southeast Asia's first Psychological First Aid training, as well as first aid training for the caregivers of the elderly, stroke and diabetic patients.

Beyond first aid, the Academy also provides public training in humanitarian education and disaster management, runs leadership and experiential workshops for adults and youth, and delivers lectures and talks in humanitarian diplomacy.

Today, Singapore Red Cross Academy aims to be the region’s leading training and resource hub in humanitarian interventions, and ultimately to become Singapore’s centre for humanitarian studies - enabling individuals and communities to serve humanity and save lives.
