Red Cross Memories: Elsie Tan

When I decided on a career change in year 2000, I wanted to do something more meaningful. I came across an ad for a Personal Assistant to Secretary General and decided to give it a try. I was touched by the passion and sincerity by the then Secretary General Mrs Geri Lau to help the less fortunate in our community and overseas and took on the job although there was a big pay cut.

I am proud to be part of Singapore Red Cross who has made a difference to lives of many people through its range of services. Reading the testimonies of people whom lives we have touched or seeing the photos of completed reconstruction projects in countries affected by disasters with the sign "Donated by the people of the Republic of Singapore" made it all worth it.
