Singapore Red Cross’ Inaugural Charity Concert Raises Over S$300,000 For Local Humanitarian Efforts

The Singapore Red Cross’ (SRC) inaugural Mandarin charity concert, Love on Stage (爱音心声), ended on a high note today, raising over $300,000 for the Society’s local humanitarian services – FoodAid, TransportAid and Red Cross Home for the Disabled. Graced by Mr Lawrence Wong, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth, the concert saw some 700 people gathered at the Singapore Conference Hall this evening in support of humanity.

The audience, which included SRC’s beneficiaries, were treated to a medley of songs, dance and drama presented by local artistes such as Lin You Fa (林尤發), Wong Li (黄鹂), Jack Ye (葉鉦汶), Teo Ser Lee (张思丽), Dance Ensemble Singapore, SAF Music & Drama Company as well as veteran Red Cross Youth members. Guest-of-Honour Mr Lawrence Wong, SRC Chairman Mr Tee Tua Ba and SRC Secretary General, Benjamin William joined the cast onstage for the finale song.

“This charity concert is a good example of how the Singapore Red Cross continuously seeks ways, be it through its donors, partners or volunteers network, to help uplift the vulnerable in our community. I would like to thank all the strong supporters of the Singapore Red Cross for their unwavering commitment towards building a community that cares,” said Minister Lawrence Wong.

“The concert aims to inspire love, hope and volunteerism – the same values that Singapore Red Cross seeks to spread within our local community. Over the past 65 years, we have served with love the most vulnerable, through humanitarian services such as the Red Cross Home for the Disabled, FoodAid, TransportAid and Community FirstAid. Beyond merely impacting the lives of our beneficiaries, these services give the peace of mind to family members and caregivers who are able to carry on with their jobs and daily chores, safe in the knowledge that their loved ones are well-cared for,” said Chairman Mr Tee Tua Ba.

Love on Stage was presented as part of SRC’s 65th anniversary commemoration.
