Typhoon Hagupit: Singapore Red Cross Deploys Advance Team, Donates S$60,000 For Immediate Humanitarian Aid

The Singapore Red Cross is deploying an advance team of five Singaporeans to the Philippines tomorrow, in response to Typhoon Hagupit. The advance team will distribute relief supplies including food, pharmaceuticals and hygiene kits to affected communities in Masbate, where Typhoon Hagupit made landfall on Sunday afternoon. The team will also conduct needs assessment of the ground situation.

The Singapore Red Cross through its Disaster Response Emergency Fund will contribute S$60,000 to immediate response by the Red Cross Movement Partners, namely the Philippine Red Cross (S$20,000), the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (S$20,000) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (S$20,000).

“We are heartened by the positive response from members of the public to our operational updates on social media. Let us do what we can to help our neighbours in need, especially in this season of giving,” said Mr Lim Theam Poh, Deputy Secretary General, Singapore Red Cross.
