Nepal Earthquake

Singapore, 27 April 2015 – Singapore Red Cross’ first response team will be in Nepal on Wednesday to ascertain the needs on the ground. Thereafter three medical teams will be deployed in support of the relief efforts. The first team is expected to be on the ground later this week.

We remain in contact with our Movement partners (including Nepal Red Cross) to closely monitor the situation in affected areas and explore what else we can do to support the relief efforts.

Singapore Red Cross is operating extended office hours to receive walk-in donations and have set up other channels through which the public can donate. Please see details below.

Walk-in cash donations

SRC will operate on extended office hours to receive walk-in donors starting from today. Please visit the Red Cross House, 15 Penang Lane, Singapore 236486, from 9.30am to 7.45pm on Mondays to Fridays, and 10am to 3pm on Saturdays,Sundays and public holidays.

Cheque

Please make your cheque payable to ‘Singapore Red Cross Society’. On the back of the cheque, kindly indicate ‘Nepal Earthquake Relief Fund’, donor’s name, contact number and address, and post it to Red Cross House, 15 Penang Lane, Singapore 238486.

DBS / POSB ATM

  1. Insert your ATM card and select “English” and enter PIN when prompted
  2. Select “iBanking, Cashcard and More Services”
  3. Select “Credit Card/Bill Payment”
  4. Select “Nepal Earthquake Relief Fund” from the billing corporation list
  5. Enter telephone number as the Bill Reference Number
  6. Select account type (e.g. Autosave, Current or Savings Account) and enter donation amount
  7. At the confirmation screen, press “Confirm” to complete transaction

DBS Internet Banking (Available from Wednesday 29 April)

  1. Login to DBS iBanking
  2. Click on “Payment Services” > “Bill Payment”
  3. Select “Nepal Earthquake Relief” from the billing corporation list
  4. Select the deposit account to debit donation
  5. Enter telephone number as the Consumer Reference Number and donation amount

Singapore Red Cross efforts to date:

  • Contribution of S$50,000 worth of relief items (including food and non-food items) and emergency supplies in response to the earthquake in Nepal.
  • Launched a public appeal for the relief and recovery efforts in Nepal. The public can donate via walk-in cash donations, cheque, online or via ATMs.
  • Working with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on the Restoring Family Links (RFL) services.

  • Donations to overseas relief are not entitled to tax deduction.
  • The Singapore Red Cross reserves the right to deploy excess funds to underfunded disasters in the same region, so as to ensure humanitarian aid gets to those in need.
