Yuhua SMC Makes Lifesaving Pledge Of 5,000 Blood Donations To National Blood Programme

Singapore, 14 June 2015 – In a collaboration with Yuhua Single Member Constituency (SMC), the Singapore Red Cross today launched Pledge5000, a community initiative that rallies residents and working professionals in the vicinity to contribute at least 5,000 units of blood by the end of the year.

Ms Grace Fu, Minister, Prime Minister’s Office and Advisor to Yuhua GROs, who is also a blood donor, was the first to pledge her commitment to save lives. At present, the projected demand for blood for the year is over 120,000 units. The demand for blood has been increasing at a rate of between 3 to 5% annually to meet the transfusion needs of patients in Singapore.
